Trama

As chief U.S. correspondent for the Guardian, Cooke became known as a perceptive interpreter of American culture and politics. Reprinted in this volume are 58 of his brief essays written during the period 1946-1985, almost all of them from that newspaper. The pieces range widely in subject matter: some deal with Presidential politics in Washington, others with mundane life in small towns around the country.
